Who could mistake the iconic visage of the Sydney Opera House? Designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, the structure evokes both a ship with full sails and a whimsical gathering of sea-shells.

From my nautical viewpoint, I admire the Sydney Harbour Bridge, connecting north and south Sydney since 1932.  At 503 meters long it was the longest single span arch bridge in the world when it was built.

I leave you, my dear friends, with this snap-shot of a friendly koala lounging by the Great Ocean Road, which was built between 1919 and 1932 and was initially intended as a memorial to those who fell in World War I.
